About Our Group

“Suicides are preventable.

Much can be done to prevent suicide at individual, community and national levels.”

World Health Organisation, 2019

Globally nearly 800,000 people die from suicide every year. The WHO recognise Suicide as a Global Health issue that crosses class, age, gender, sexuality, economic status, and race. However, research has demonstrated that many biopsychosocial factors can significantly influence the occurrence or consideration of suicide.

Due to the diversity and individuality of each and every person it is very difficult to reach everyone to offer support and advice in relation to suicide and mental health. However, a unifying factor is often the workplace where individuals regularly forge relationships and networks that are invaluable for suicidal intention recognition and prevention. This research network is designed to engage with connection between work and suicide recognition, facilitating support for employers and employees, linking research outputs and effective initiatives, creating collaborative partnerships for research development, as well as providing a supportive space for researchers in the field of suicide.
