About Us

Occupational Health Suicide Prevention and Research Network

Welcome to the OHSPR Network, the new home for cross collaborative research focusing on Occupational Health and Suicide.

Getting Started

The OHSPR Network came about following a discussion between colleagues from the University of Glasgow, University of Nottingham, the Queens Nursing Institute Scotland, The Samaritans, and the NHS.

The scope of the network is to provide a place for researchers, experts, and supporters of suicide prevention within Occupational Health to collaborate and engage with each other. This network will facilitate communication and encourage cross-collaborative working across all disciplines and expertise with the aim to enhance suicide prevention and develop better understanding in relation to suicide within the work place.

Supporting Work and Workers

A key part of this network is to support work and workers by directing them to support services were possible. This is not a direct action network and first line engagement is not offered through this website. However, there are a number of resources and links to support services on this site, with further information to be added over time.

News and Updates

As the network develops, news and updates of members and associated research will be added to the site and connected social media. This will support publications, research initiatives, collaborations, interventions, and associated undertakings locally and internationally. If you have anything to share please contact us for this to be included on our news page.

Research and Intervention Activities

One of the core aims of this network is share activities by members to encourage support and collaboration. In this section find out about the exciting work being carried out by our members worldwide, connect with colleagues with similar outlooks, and gain support from research fellows and specialists around the world for your own projects.

Our Network Podcast

One of our founding members, Dr Simon Walker, already had a podcast in production focused on Suicide Research. This has been retooled to include the OHSPR Network and will focus on the work of researchers and specialists around the world through interviews and discussions. If you would like to contribute to the podcast please contact us.

Our Support Network

During the initial conversation that provided the basis for this network, the issue of the mental health strain on researchers and specialists of dealing with suicide as a focus was raised. This has led to the creation of a forum where individuals can share and support each other. This is currently still in development, please bear with us, and any suggestions are welcome.

We hope that you get much out of joining in with the Network, and look forward to meeting all of you online in the future.

Thanks for you support.
